Classes for children ages 8 – 12 meet Tuesday and Thursday at 4:30 p.m. Adult classes meet on Monday and Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. or Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 p.m. We ask that you arrive 15-20 minutes early so that you can meet the instructor and receive a little one-on-one instruction before class begins. Please call us at 678-0433 to schedule your free trial lesson. What should I wear?Wear (or bring) comfortable, loose clothing such as a t-shirt and shorts or sweat pants. You will need to remove all jewelry. It's best to leave your valuables at home or in your car. We will lend you shin pads and any other items you might need for your trial lesson. What will I be doing at my free lesson? Before class begins, most students choose to do light stretches on their own. When class begins, the instructor will ask students to line up and bow, and then he will lead the class in stretching. During class, you will just copy the instructor and follow his directions. If at any time during class, you feel out-of-breath or need to rest, please let the instructor know. After the lesson, someone will discuss with you how to sign up. If you enjoyed the lesson and if you believe that we can help you reach your goals, please join us! What if I have no martial arts experience?Don't worry! First, the instructor will always demonstrate each technique. All students simply copy his movements. Then, he will provide explanations and tips so that you can start to improve your form. Next, you will repeat, repeat, repeat. Some techniques are practiced with a partner. Don't worry, your partner will not try to destroy you. At this point, all students are trying to learn. Second, it's okay if your movements are not perfect. It's okay if you cannot understand everything the instructor is saying. It's okay if you feel tired and need to ask to rest for a moment. Keep in mind what your goals are and remember that this is only the first step. You are challenging yourself to be a better you. |
